Although there were plenty of strong competitors in this years club table topic contest, our winner and runner-up were two of Fairfield's newest additions. Abs Saadi took out 1st place and the runner-up was Vince Tzortzis. Unfortunately Abs is unable to attend the Area 20 contest which means that Vince will be proudly representing us. We're all certain you'll do very well. Good luck Vince.

Annemarie Pinnington gets 2nd place (Posted 03/10/06)

When Annemarie Pinnington joined Fairfield Toastmasters in April this year, she never guessed that she would win the club Humorous Speech Contest and go on to represent Fairfield at the Area 20 Humorous Speech Contest. But on Saturday 23rd September Annemarie took the stage before an audience of 75 Toastmasters and gave a hugely entertaining and funny speech about the perils of growing up with brothers. In her speech titled 'CHILDHOOD MEMORIES' Annemarie shared some of her riotous experiences of being the only girl in her family and how her brothers used her as a guinea pig in experiments … one of which was jumping off the roof of their house using only an umbrella as a flotation device. Annemarie gave a poised and confident performance and was announced the runner up in the contest. Congratulations Annemarie on a wonderful achievement.

And Marieon.....

Representing Fairfield in the Area 20 Table Topics Contest on Saturday was Marieon Schauer. The topic was 'Knowledge is Power' and Marieon used a personal anecdote to highlight the point, power in the wrong hands can be dangerous. While Marieon didn't take home the coveted Trophy she gave an articulate and well-structured response. Those of us present from Fairfield were very proud of her performance … well done Marieon.

New Executive Committee (posted June 2006)

The incoming Executive for the Toastmaster year 2006-2007 was installed by Area 20 Governor Adrian Watts. The official ceremony was conducted at the club's meeting room at Club Marconi on Tuesday 6th June 2006. After the meeting, members and guests enjoyed a wonderful "changeover dinner" at the Chinese restaurant housed within the Marconi Club.

The outgoing executive lead by President Ken Kitson, did a great job of achieving 10 out of 10 goals in the Distinguished Club Program. This earned Fairfield Toastmasters "President's Distinguished" status. A job worthy of our recognition and praise. Well done. They were discharged of their duties by outgoing Area 20 Governor, Rafic Awad. Of course the new team begins the year with a clean slate and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

A list of the executive members and their respective responsibilities can be found within these pages.
